Self Portrait Photo Collages
Every student had a personal photo shoot and chose one or two of their photographic images for this self portrait project. The photos were collaged on to a piece of cardboard that students had the freedom to shape any way they wanted. The colorful patterns on the cardboard base were done with a technique called “paste paper”, which allowed the kids to scratch, roll, or indent patterns into the surface of paint while it was wet. In addition, each artist was able to choose from a variety of decorative techniques to embellish and personalize the collage. Each finished collage is unique, expressive, and original!
